Accountant (Accounts Payable)
This role is based in Manama, Bahrain
Reporting to the Division Accounting Manager, this role provides hands‑on accounting support across daily operations, monthly close activities, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts payable, including processing invoices, verifying documentation, coordinating approvals, and assisting with vendor inquiries
- Assist the international and division accounting teams during the monthly close process
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
- Provide support to other team members through ad hoc provision and analysis of schedules, variances etc
- Maintain accurate vendor records and support the setup of new vendors
- Compile VAT filings and liaise with tax consultants
- Provide audit support
- Assist with AFE documentation and related accounting tasks
- Provide general accounting support for special projects as needed
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance; exposure to the energy industry is a plus
- IFRS and/or US GAAP exposure
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Professional certifications (CPA/ACCA) are a plus but not required
