JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENT INTERN
This is a contract position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow the Petrofac Engineering Process in the management and discharge of Project activities.
Participate in the wider Petrofac interests in supporting content for bids, case studies and other corporate activities, such as presenting at conferences and education outreach where applicable
Support leadership and commitment to the Petrofac values, including HSSE and quality performance by attending site visits
Maintain active development and involvement as a member of Petrofac's Engineering Community
Project or work package focal point with supervised authority within the limits of the project parameters and company competency assessments.
Accountable for competently performing assigned project tasks with appropriate supervision.
Responsible for maintaining project or work package progress against schedule.
Maintain communication with Project Management, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning leads where necessary within the project element.
Provide E&I technical support to and implement instructions from the Lead Systems Engineer.
Support E&I technical queries to ensure resolution to the satisfaction of the Lead Systems Engineer.
Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules and estimates for the individual work scopes.
Contribute to job progress and cost reports regarding instrumentation & control engineering activities.
Ensure that all E&I design changes are captured by the change control process.
Liaise with other disciplines in the execution of the work.
Comply with Petrofac engineering procedures and industry, international and Client codes and standards, and assurance that team members comply with the procedures.
Preparation of engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules.
Produce documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in work packs, and or, design books on time to meet deadlines.
Participate as necessary in discussions with Clients and visit job sites as required including offshore.
Responsible as a key member of any project team for achieving the project target and completion of the project within the budget and schedule
Responsible for specific change and improvement initiatives.
Awareness of technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline, including assisting in the training and technical development of engineers.
Ensure that all E&I work complies with project and Petrofac health, safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures; project specific HSE and quality plans; and agreed interfacing requirements with sub-contractors as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Awareness of engineering practices.
Demonstrates curiosity and eagerness to learn.
Competent communicator to articulate key project goals and objectives and present them clearly to the project team and stakeholders.
Able to challenge others in a constructive manner
Awareness to support and partake in change and risk management practices.
A Level in a relevant subject (e.g. Mathematics, Physics or Engineering.
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related subject
APM Project Fundamentals Qualification course
HNC Instrumentation and Control Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
BOSIET, MIST and additional courses required to travel offshore
