JOB TITLE: ENGINE ROOM SUPERINTENDENT

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and control the Engine Room Maintenance Department to ensure safe and efficient functioning of all technical facilities;
  • Responsible for all maintenance functions (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and telecommunication);
  • Responsible for operation, condition monitoring and troubleshooting of relevant utility systems;
  • Responsible for technical integrity of all associated equipment in the engine room, steering flat and pump room etc.;
  • Responsible for chemical management and testing in engine room;
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in all areas of responsibility;
  • Responsible for planning and accomplish of all maintenance activities as per Computerized Maintenance Management System;
  • Responsible for modifications under management of change procedure related to the E/R;
  • Perform criticality assessment of the equipment. Assign and review maintenance options;
  • Liaise with the maintenance Superintendent and other Department Heads for planning maintenance and operation activities;
  • Responsible for pre-commissioning and commissioning during operation;
  • Verify and review the Company's Policies and procedures through the Offshore Management Review; Develop and revise procedures and standing instructions within area of responsibility;
  • Ensure the Permit To Work system is controlled and adhered to as per requirements of the system;
  • Ensure that regulatory and class requirements are adhered to within area of responsibility;
  • Responsible for stock control of spare parts and consumables within area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for control of hazardous substances that are used/ stored within the Maintenance department;
  • Responsible for the relevant Risk Assessments; Participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents. Administrate Company reporting System report;
  • Liaise closely with onshore management, HSSEQ;
  • Responsible for the Computerized Maintenance Management System within area of responsibility.
  • Responsible that vendors and contractors are managed safely and effectively within area of responsibility;
  • Undertake training relevant to the position requirements;
  • Responsible for the training of subordinates and trainees;
  • Responsible for competency assessment and performance evaluation of subordinates, including provide feedback;
  • Help shape a healthy corporate culture on board, proactively thinking communication and about

  • Provide input to budget and control expenditure;
  • Prepare and administer required reports. Maintain appropriate documentation;
  • Understand and ensure compliance by teams regarding the installation safety case, statutory requirements, and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure contractors and vendors comply with Petrofac / client’s safe systems of work and current legislation.
  • Perform Maintenance Superintendent role should they be incapacitated in the event of an emergency.
  • Perform in an emergency role as defined by the Company Emergency Response Procedure Manual and Station Bill.

  • Ability to lead and work in a team, resolving day-to-day operational issues as they occur.
  • Ability to manage system issues and liaise with external support teams to bring resolutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple workscopes, prioritising and allocating resources as required for the best outcome for the asset.
  • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent team player with proven track record of facilitation and engineering capability
  • Excellent understanding of IT packages including Word, Excel and Project Management
  • Competent and comfortable working with auditors, regulatory bodies (ABS & BMA), external verifiers and third party operators
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to share information / knowledge with other personnel
  • Industry experience in a range of technical, supervisory and management roles
  • Proven leadership qualities, experience in offshore operations roles would be advantageous
