The post is based in Equatorial Guinea, offshore on the Serpentina on a 28/28 rotation

 

JOB TITLE: ENGINE ROOM SUPERVISOR (28/28 ROTATION IN EG)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of technical and maintenance activities in the engine room, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and industry standards while maintaining the efficient operation of machinery, emergency, and safety systems aboard the vessel.
  • The primary purpose of the role is to provide necessary support in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of all engine room activities, maintaining vessel machinery and equipment in line with relevant legislation and company guidelines.
  • Be familiar with and maintain awareness of the relevant Company requirements, the latest industry codes and standards including statutory rules and regulations; ensure all workspace technical and maintenance activities are carried out consistently with Company policies and in accordance to Vessel Management Manual
  • Ensure that the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) is rigorously implemented in order to survey, test and maintain all machinery/equipment of the ship, comprising Emergency and Safety systems and all Corporate owned/rented equipment which may be operated on/from the vessel, in accordance with statutory, class, flag state, company requirements and standards
  • Supervise bunkering/offloading of fuel/oil, the refueling of vessels ensure for efficient and timely ordering of adequate resources and spares for mechanical equipment
  • Ensure that engine room operations are carried out and report unsafe acts/conditions and any defects with implications for safe operation, marine environment and navigability in compliance with HSE and Company procedures; perform duties within the vessel emergency team as indicated in Emergency Preparedness Manual
  • Ensure that permit to work system and relevant isolation and confined space entry procedures are understood and observed
  • Ensure adequate training of the crew of their duty shift, included those in the emergency team
  • Assign work instructions and duties to the engine crew
  • Issue instructions and orders to engine crew
  • Take immediate actions to avoid pollution to the marine environment
  • Maintain safe working practices
  • To have a full understanding of Engine Room and Production equipment
  • Maintain the vessel in accordance with class and statutory legislation
  • Compliance with appropriate and applicable legislative requirements
  • Monitoring and prevent environmental pollution according to MARPOL
  • Take over the watch as per Company procedures
  • Support with Engines Area related Marine QMS Tasks implementation
  • Ensure Correct implementation of instruments/Equipment Calibration Management under Chief Engineer guidance
  • To be responsible for Engine Room Related materials certificates management and traceability

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • The role requires proactive problem-solving by identifying and resolving technical issues in the engine room, swiftly addressing unsafe conditions, and implementing corrective actions to maintain safe, compliant, and uninterrupted vessel operations.
  • Minimum of years FPSO Experienced as 2d Engineer
  • Minimum of years Super Tanker or Crude oil tanker experienced
  • Must have valid STCW III/2 Unlimited COC with DCE
  • FPSO (with steam plant) experience is a must
  • International experience in West Africa (EG specifically) is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of engine room operations, maintenance practices, and compliance with MARPOL and other maritime regulations.
  • Ability to effectively assign tasks and supervise engine crew, ensuring safe work practices and high performance.
  • Proficiency in identifying technical issues, implementing immediate corrective actions, and maintaining operational continuity.
  • Clear communication skills for coordinating, issuing instructions to the engine crew, and compiling comprehensive reports.
  • Rigorous in maintaining accurate records for equipment maintenance, calibration management, and compliance with statutory legislation.
