JOB TITLE: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT – CIVIL & STRUCTURAL   (GRADE 22)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and allocate manpower resources for executing the different projects, proposals and other activities of the Discipline.

  • Identify & manage discipline resources and development of resources for short term & long term needs

  • Facilitate the manpower recruitment process in co-ordination with HR/ADMIN. Conduct regular technical interviews for potential new hires at senior positions.

  • Ensure manpower resources of discipline are adequate and are utilized efficiently. Maintain proper manpower status on Innate.

  • Provide technical expertise during various phases of project execution and proposal engineering.

  • Promote innovation, team spirit, design improvement and technical excellence in Discipline.

  • Set & Manage department objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) & budget and aligning these to the requirements of management.

  • Review existing working systems and explore new systems and implement the changes to improve quality and productivity.

  • Develop strategies for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost consciousness, quality and safety in response to demands of EPC business. Encourage employees to diversify and improve skills.

  • Directs employee performance evaluations, establish performance criteria, identify employee

  • Strengths & weaknesses and recommend training & development requirements.

  • Give recommendations/directions to HR on employee salary matters.

  • Arrange internal audits for monitoring quality of Discipline documents and deliverables.

  • Review and approve man-hours, cost and BOQ estimates of proposals.

  • Conduct internal staff meetings to ensure the progress of projects in accordance to schedule, allotted man-hours and budgeted costs.

  • Direct the engineers and designers towards achieving quality and maintaining budget and schedule.

  • Ensure compliance with Company ISO quality procedures.

  • Facilitate Company’s internal and external quality audits in co-ordination with the QA/QC Department.

  • Interact with the Engineering Director and other Discipline Managers on a regular basis in order to ensure smooth functioning of the Engineering Department.

  • Interact with peers from other offices across globe on regular basis to ensure consistency of work across all offices.

  • Interact with Managers / Lead engineers to carry out risk / reward / technical integrity studies of Civil and Structural Design.

  • Interface with other Departments (e.g. Project Management, Project Planning & Control,

  • Procurement, QA/QC, Construction and Commissioning) as required for the proper execution of the projects.

  • Review complex engineering problems and guide the team in selecting safe, efficient & economical solution.
