JOB TITLE: INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnoses and rectifies faults to ensure maximum equipment availability.
- Maintains telecoms and satellite TV systems.
- Maintains and carries out fiscal metering duties.
- Carries out Active Monitoring System.
- Implements the scheduled maintenance program incorporating all instrumentation electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic plant and equipment.
- Maintains all instrumentation drawings in ‘as-built’ condition to reflect any modifications.
- Installs and commissions of new equipment as directed. Co-ordinate with other members of the maintenance team to plan daily and long-term maintenance schedules to optimize production.
- This contributes to the planned maintenance system meeting legal and vendor requirements, ensuring all work is accurately recorded.
- Maintain comprehensive hand over logs.
- Assist as required, other trades and disciplines within the limits of capabilities and experience.
- Ensure the emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection/protection systems are maintained in a state readiness to respond to any plant malfunction or incident offshore.
- Ensure areas that have been isolated from the fire and gas system for maintenance are constantly monitored. Ensure areas are reinstated as soon as work is complete, and work permits are cleared.
- Ensure all work carried out follows all statutory procedures.
- Ensuring all instrument systems including metering, telecoms, Emergency Shutdown, Fire & Gas detection/protection systems are maintained for maximum reliability and availability. Ensure all authorized work permits are in place before commencement of work and cleared on completion before reinstatement. Prioritize workloads to provide maximum availability for all platform SCEs.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Educated to ONC Standard in Instrumentation/Control Systems & successfully completed a recognized apprentice scheme or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Good knowledge of Automated Control, Fire and Gas, Telecoms, Fiscal metering & ESD systems.
- To be familiar with and understand the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to deploy engineering and operational standards/procedures that meet both regulatory and safety standards.
- Ability to identify, investigate, audit and control technical change (within limit of discipline knowledge)
- Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, technical integrity, cost and schedule.
- Clear, fluent and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas. Requirement to raise any non-conformance to supervisor in timely fashion.
- Ability to integrate into a multi-cultural team.
