This role is based offshore on the NEO GP3 asset on a 2/3 rota.

JOB TITLE: INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Commit to incident-free operations.
  • Actively support a working environment based on respect for health, safety, and environmental issues and the maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
  • Participate as a member of the instrument supervisor’s team in delivering performance against targets.
  • Build effective working relationships with other departments and shifts.
  • Ensure the necessary preparation for relevant scheduled activities.
  • Maintains the vessel control system, the DCS, all offshore communications equipment, electronic navigation aids, and all other marine electronics.
  • Maintains emergency shutdown equipment.
  • Responsible for completing verification assurance and maintenance routines and maintaining quality records.
  • Carries out fault finding and repairs on communications, control, and instrument systems.
  • Observes and complies with safety rules and regulations, including the permit-to-work system.
  • Act as the nominated person responsible for small bore tubing and fittings (RTP) as directed.
  • Provides a source of technical expertise to operate, fault find, and maintain the vessel and process control systems.
  • Ensures that all planned maintenance is completed on the equipment for which they are responsible.
  • Liaises with the relevant onshore support engineer and vendor reps to ensure that the integrity of software systems is maintained and no unauthorised changes are made.
  • Bring defects in practices, equipment, and tools to the attention of relevant staff.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate maintenance records and ensure that the data is entered into the appropriate information management systems.
  • Execute duties as specified in the station/bill/emergency response procedures or as directed by the OIM.
  • Comply with company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures.
  • Commit to the Competence Assurance System and undertake any training and assessment required for the role.
  • Responsible for the availability and reliability of all computer control systems, telecommunications systems, fire and gas systems, shutdown systems, and related instrumentation. This is done in accordance with legislative requirements, company health, safety, environmental, integrity, and other relevant standards and company values.
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the crew  and areas of the environment pertaining to their position.

 

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Technical qualification•       
  • S/NVQ Process Engineering Maintenance (Instrument and Control) Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Valid COMPEX certification.
  • Experience of maintenance scheduling, organising, coordinating and controlling/monitoring work.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Has detailed knowledge of instrument maintenance practices applicable to offshore oil and gas assets, associated technical standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of fire and gas detection, ESD systems, and small bore tubing maintenance and inspection.
  • Experience in gas compression.
  • Experience in the administration, control, and use of “Safe Systems of Work” (PTW), including permit-to-work procedures.
  • Ability to conduct fault finding, installation, isolation, and re-instatement on communications, control, and instrument systems.
  • Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to create positive relationships with peers and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
