POSITION TITLE: Lead Engineer - Offsites
Scope of Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a team of engineers to ensure asset integrity and operability, effective execution of the maintenance strategy of the well facilities, and to support in managing spares and materials for all well facility, GTU gas processing plants. Take complete responsibility for execution of the project comprising of detailed condition assessment and troubleshooting work, critical spare review and support during procurement, operations, and maintenance phases as per Contract requirement.
Primary Duties
• Responsible for leading and guiding a team of engineers to look after the WHF and GTU in a gas field and carry out any required work.
• Work as a member of the engineers and technical team to provide process engineering support for well head facility and gas treating units operations.
• Provide technical advice / support to daily operational issues.
• Strong knowledge and experience on electrical, mechanical and instrument components of the WHF and GTU, troubleshooting and address the root cause.
• Responsible for performing various inspections on the well head facility and gas treatment unit, integrity assessment, provide recommendations and troubleshooting.
• Responsible to review technical documents for all the WHF and GTU components such as vendor/equipment data books, drawings, specifications, and datasheets. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from maintenance regime and OEM recommendations.
• Analyze complex technical issues on the well head facility and gas treatment units, identify key drivers, and propose strategy / recommendations to support decision making / resolution of technical issues.
• Responsible for raising any the required PTW for any work required to be taken on the WHF or GTU to perform the system checks and audit- this includes performing risk assessments and identifying appropriate mitigation strategies to ensure safe operations.
• Working knowledge of commissioning, operations and maintenance activities for WH facilities Fully conversant with the technical documentation available from EPC Contractor and OEMs pertaining to discipline equipment
• Responsible for performing various inspections, integrity assessment, provide recommendations and troubleshooting on the WHF and GTU.
• Responsible for minimizing production impact of maintenance activity without compromising quality when a maintenance required on the WHF or GTU.
• Responsible for directing the preparation of technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors for any of the WHF and GDU, participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Direct and provide guidance in the Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents. Supervise the review of design calculations, ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment specifications
• Strong HSE awareness and responsible for team compliance with Petrofac life-saving rules
• Responsible for team compliance with control of work standards and procedures
• Certified and experience to operate in high H2S environment
• Certified and experienced to operate safe environment while working at height and confined spaces.
• Perform unit/tankage optimization, troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking studies.
• Support on-going reliability improvements and equipment strategy development.
• Responsible for the development / execution of margin improvement ideas / projects.
• Lead mid-level investigations with strong linkage to technical related direct causes
• Mentor junior engineers & provide adequate coaching / feedback to strengthen team’s competency
• Responsible for driving continuous improvement in HSE standards to build a proactive safety culture within the operations and maintenance team
• Have a full awareness of the Company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics
• Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures.
• Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests, facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
• Interface and regularly meet with client, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule.
• Working knowledge of discipline engineering codes and standards necessary to operate and maintain assets on gas processing fields.
• Responsible to verify and conceptualize the most optimum work route. Identify a clear scope of work/supply and accordingly plan/schedule the engineering activities and manpower resource.
• Responsible to identify and quantify total number of deliverables, man-hour allocation, time schedules and other requirements for execution of the work
• Responsible to coordinate with operations, maintenance and planning team to identify project time schedules, establish target completion dates.
• Capability to control a schedule of diagnostic surveying and performance evaluation by directing on-site investigations
• Responsible to identify irregularities and shortfalls in spares, inventory and tools necessary to ensure continuous and safe operations, take corrective action as required.
• Coordinate the preparation of Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials
• Responsible to review asset inspection plan and ensure/ determine if inspection schedules are executed to plan. Work with the CMMS Planning Engineer to determine and ensure inspection routines are accurate and justified.
• Review MOCs for technical accuracy and delivery and execute as directed. Provide direction on priority of work and provide clarity on issues for root cause analysis studies
• Responsible to identify and report any scope of breakdown maintenance work identified during assessment and perform defect analysis to determine scope of repair or corrective actions.
• Responsible to review and if required organize the preparation of equipment and material specifications and data sheets, administer the development any repair, refurbishment, or modification scope of work.
• Responsible to develop Manpower charts and schedules, recommend, assign, and distribute manpower for the execution of any repair, refurbishment, or modification scope of work. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.
• Compile / distribute comprehensive reports as necessary.
• Review and assess condition of critical spares holdings compared to project 2-year spares list
• Appraise and update preventative maintenance routines in CMMS as applicable.
• Lead and participate in task based risk assessment.
• Report and assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents and provide all necessary assistance to investigating officer.
• Perform in Emergency Response role as defined in Company’s Emergency Response Manual
• Perform related duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor.
• Working knowledge of commissioning, operations and maintenance activities for mechanical (static and rotating) system including GTGs, compressor trains and reactors
• Capability to undertake major analyses of equipment histories, and to maintain comprehensive statistical and technical data of machinery performance
• Capability to control a schedule of diagnostic surveying and performance evaluation by directing on-site investigations, which include but not limited to alignment testing and vibration analysis
• Responsible in maintaining Petrofac HSSE Policies, Life Saving Rules & Standards and perform assigned tasks and duties in accordance with instructions, safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice.
Minimum Job Requirement
• Typically, Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
• 10+ years’ experience of operation experience in gas sector
• OPITO Certified H2S training certificate, is preferred.
• Confined Space entry training certificate and experience
• Working at Height training certificate and experience
• Knowledge and understanding of safe system of work and CMMS work order management process.
• Knowledge and experience of performing testing and troubleshooting activities in critical mechanical equipment on the WHF and GTU)
• Experience to work in Gas processing facilities and sites operating with acid gas (high H2S content)
