 JOB TITLE: MARINE CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

This post is based in Ghana on a 24-month fixed term contract.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Marine Control Room Operator is responsible for executing all control systems functioning for assigned/designated areas.

  • Control, Monitor, receive, store and discharge crude oil cargo and slops, complying with all the working and reporting procedures and relevant standards set.

  • Ensure the quality of the Cargo, minimizing the quantity of free water present in the cargo.

  • Ensure that the cargo quantities are as reflected for Offtake operation and prepare the subsequent discharge plan for the Offtake.

  • And be able to calculate cargo quantities with Surveyor and Custom.

  • Prepare the Midnight reports in relation to cargo quantities on board.

  • Be able to run the pumps for the various operations on the facility (Offtake, Transfer, COW, Stripping, FLC & etc.).

  • Ensure the Inert gas system is running as required for the operation.

  • Conduct the venting of the cargo tanks as per the procedure.

  • Monitor all traffic in the area in order to mitigate the risks of collision.

  • Perform routine and emergency ballasting/de-ballasting.

  • Update Maintenance Management System, inputting data and printing job cards as requested.

  • Act as area authority for the cargo area excluding the cranes.

  • Keep watch as a flight follower and as well advice the base/Pilot of the weather condition around the jubilee fields. MCRO & Pilot exchange.

  • Plan, monitor and execute all tank entry preparations and inspections.

  • Conduct weekly inspections and maintenance on the Lifeboats and as well act as a Coxswain.

  • Prepare Permit/TRA for continuous and incoming job scopes (Performing Authority & Isolating Authority).

  • Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements.

  • Proactively contributes to the delivery of Health Safety Environment (HSE), plans and improvement objectives.

  • Be aware of the physical condition of plant and equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.

  • Supporting Vendor maintenance and repair work scopes

  • Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.

  • Data logging and reporting

  • Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.

  • Competent to stand in for Area Authority and Acting Marine Supervisor as required.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • BSc Marine Navigation / HND Nautical Studies with Class III Deck Unlimited (Marine Navigation CoC)

  • Experience in relevant field with offshore experience – VLCC or FPSO (Tanker vessels)

  • Ability to utilize interpersonal skills in resolving issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative.
