JOB TITLE: MARINE TECHNICIAN

 

Role on ALBA FSU on a 2/3 rota on a fixed term contract for 12 months

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Deck Foreman the Deck Crew is responsible for safe execution of work schedules.         
  • Main Duties
  • Observing Company Safety Rules/Regulations, including ISSOW System and compliances.
  • Attending Safety Committee Meetings as and when required and demonstrating safety awareness in the performance of normal work functions.
  • Participate in Area Ownership and e-Obs.
  • General fabric maintenance of the FSU in all areas including machinery spaces, accommodation, decks, stores spaces, cargo/ballast and other tanks, void spaces.
  • Cargo and storing operations.
  • All general maintenance and watch-keeping duties as directed by his supervisor.
  • Undertake preparation and coating of steel work.
  • Manual cleaning of such areas as machinery spaces, accommodation, decks, stores spaces, cargo/ballast, other tanks and void spaces.
  • Acting as rigger and banksman where competent.
  • General assistance in the movement of supplies, materials or equipment as directed, which includes taking on supplies of diesel and lubricating oils and fresh water
  • Assist in all aspects of cargo loading/discharging, including deployment of shuttle tanker hawser and hose.
  • Assist with cleaning, inerting, gas freeing and crude oil washing of cargo tanks.
  • Watch-keeping during critical cargo operations and a directed.
  • Observes Ithaca / Petrofac Safety Rules/Regulations, including ISSOW system and comply with same.
  • Maintains good safe housekeeping conditions on work site.
  • Put forward suggestions as necessary to improve operational/maintenance efficiency and safety.
  • As delegated, attend Safety Committee Meetings and demonstrate safety awareness in the performance of normal work functions.
  • Emergency duties as fire fighter, including heli-ops firefighting/lifeboat coxswain.
  • The listing of main responsibilities and main duties is not necessarily exhaustive and may be changed at Management’s discretion to reflect the needs of the company. All personnel will be expected to assist other disciplines in their routine tasks as directed, in order to ensure that operational efficiency is maximised.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated industry experience working within operations and maintenance in a similar role
  • Opito Stage 3, NSL EAL level 2 in Banksman/Slinger or equivalent and/or Opito Stage 3, NSL-EAL level 2, SVQ/NVQ in Rigging & Lifting or equivalent
  • HERTM

  • Installation specific Induction
  • Lifeboat Coxswain
  • ISSOW
  • Safety
  • Be familiar with and have an understanding of the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policies and Procedures Technical Integrity
  • Ability to deploy operational standards, policies, and producers to meet both regulatory and safety standards Quality Assurance
  • Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, health, and hygiene Communication
  • Clear, fluent and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas. Requirement to raise any non-conformance to supervisor in timely fashion Training
  • Complete mandatory training required as defined in the relevant Offshore Training Matrix
  • Adhere to the company Competence Framework
  • Relevant experience in offshore oil and gas industry
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrates knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace
