The post is based in Equatorial Guinea, offshore on the Serpentina on a 28/28 rotation.
JOB TITLE: Mechanical Assessor (28/28 Rotation in EG).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The purpose of this role is to develop and deliver mechanical assessment activities, engaging engineers and technicians in the oil and gas sector to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
- Design and deliver high-quality oil & gas facility mechanical competency assurance programs tailored to the unique needs of the industry.
- Familiar with the preparation of mechanical maintenance staff assessments.
- Design, develop and deliver Mechanical assessment programs for personnel involved in the operation of oil & gas facilities.
- Ensure that the mechanical training and assessment activities align with industry-specific standards and equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge for the sector.
- Interfacing with TMS and CMS systems – recording assessment results, feedback reporting, etc.
- Development of competency criteria and role profiles relevant to area of expertise
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Any other duty as may be assigned.
- Strong HSE awareness and responsible for team compliance with Petrofac life-saving rules This includes performing risk assessment and identifying appropriate mitigation strategies to ensure safe operations.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement in HSE standards to build a proactive safety culture within the operations and maintenance team.
- Have a full awareness of the Company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics
- Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures.
- Working knowledge of discipline engineering codes and standards necessary operate and maintain assets.
- Working knowledge of commissioning, operations, and maintenance activities for oil and gas facilities.
- Fully conversant with the technical documentation available from EPC Contractor and OEMs pertaining to discipline equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of managing and performing troubleshooting on related systems and equipment
- Report and assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents and provide all necessary assistance to investigating officer.
- Financial accountability involves ensuring high-quality competency assurance programmes meet client and staff expectations while maintaining compliance with company standards and optimising resource allocation.
- Problem-solving requires identifying and resolving current mechanical issues in process systems, developing solutions with a focus on client objectives, and guiding staff to improve operational performance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant recognised diploma / vocational qualifications.
- Recognised Assessor qualification, with IQA qualification desirable.
- Recognised teaching / training qualification.
- Few years of experience in related field and specialty with experience working with NOCs/IOCs.
- Few years of previous experience of technical training delivery and assessment.
- Site work experience. Offshore experience is preferred.
- Previous experience of developing, reviewing, and upgrading training materials.
- Previous experience developing competency criteria and role profiles.
- OPITO Certified survival training is preferred (T-BOSIET, MIST, etc).
- Current knowledge of international best practice in the field of mechanical training.
- Experience and knowledge of working under IOGP lifesaving rules (this includes, but not limited to working in confined spaces and working at height).
- Knowledge and understanding of safe system of work and CMMS work order management process.
- Ability to design assessment and training materials.
- Refer to HR/OD Competency Management System (CMS).
- Ability to actively engage with Mechanical team to coach, mentor and assess staff dealing with resolving current mechancial problems relating to process system, identify and resolve potential issues, and provide guidance to improve operational performance.
- Ability to carry out Mechanical maintenance assessments and training.
- Experience with technical process safety studies.
- Computer appreciation - Ms Word, power-point, excel.
- Excellent HSE appreciation and awareness.
- Willingness to work and foster good working relationships in an integrated team from diverse locations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and oral English is essential, supported by good report writing.
- Ability to work in a multi-discipline team to develop solutions focused on client objectives.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and commercial skills.
- Ability to establish good client relationships at all levels.
