JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
Main Purpose of the Role:
Ensure mechanical system and equipment on board West Desaru MOPU and WSS are properly maintained to achieve the highest availability, reliability and meeting safety and technical standards
Primary Duties
Execute first line maintenance inclusive PM, PMA and CM on MOPU/WSS mechanical system and equipment to ensure all are executed as per maintenance procedure and schedule to achieve highest availability and reliability.
Responsible to properly record any PM, PMA and CM activities in the CMMS.
Analyse, optimise and report the performance of Safety Critical Equipment (SCE) to identify key failure/success to enable quick fix/improvement and propose for permanent solution/improvement.
Participate in the planned integrated shutdown activities on MOPU/WSS to ensure the identified activities are safely and effectively executed within the agreed time frame.
Plan and manage stock inventory of materials and consumables for mechanical system and equipment to meet the installation requirement.
Assist Maintenance Supervisor in the first line reviews of installation change proposals.
Assist other trades and disciplines as required within the limits and capabilities and experience to meet maintenance/operation requirements.
Participate in all emergency drills and exercises by continuous evaluation of procedures and response to meet high standard of readiness from Emergency Response Team
Participate in the implementation of Company Safety Management System and Asset Integrity Plan.
Participate in the activity related to visiting regulatory/company officials for audit including monitoring and tracking action to close out finding.
Monitor and track own competency as per (Competence Personal Profile (CPP) and ensure appropriate training in accordance to Company Training Matrix
Problem Solving
Troubleshoot mechanical failures such as leaks, pressure anomalies, vibration, and abnormal noise from rotating/static equipment.
Apply root cause analysis techniques to diagnose issues and propose corrective or preventive solutions.
Ensure problems are rectified within safe operating parameters and in compliance with procedures.
Collaborate with other trades or escalate to Supervisor when issues impact overall platform performance.
Essential working experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore maintenance and any offshore facility.
Strong understanding of rotating/static mechanical equipment, engines, pumps, valves, and related components which include equipment maintenance, servicing, repair and troubleshooting etc.
Familiarity with CMMS (e.g. Maximo) for work orders, history tracking, and maintenance planning.
Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Good interpersonal and teamworking skills, able to support other disciplines when required.
Demonstrated safety awareness and participation in Permit to Work, Toolbox Talk, and Risk Assessment processes.
Required qualifications and certifications:
- Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Valid PTW Training from PETRONAS/Other Operator
Valid Offshore Medical and BOSIET certificates.
Damage Control Team or Emergency Response Team training
