JOB TITLE: METERING TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance of fiscal and allocation metering, with responsibilities in maintaining equipment & records to the required standard. All documents are to be kept to a high standard, forming an auditable trail to the required levels. Use of KIMS (FM2P Version) for scheduling and maintaining evidence and records. Safeguards the availability and operating condition of all metering equipment so that availability targets are achieved.
- Maintain all metering systems, ensuring 100% availability of at least 1 export stream for both oil & gas routes.
- Carry out verification, calibration, & maintenance of oil and gas fiscal and allocation metering systems, sampling systems, & prover loops.
- Responsible for rectification of breakdowns in the field, fault reporting, maintaining appropriate certificates & the audit trail, and keeping records and logbooks.
- capable of monitoring and controlling meter system performance and making technically sound recommendations to offshore and onshore personnel.
- Good working knowledge of relevant pipeline requirements and awareness of general metering calculations used, i.e., AGA8 & ISO6976 codes of practice.
- Experienced in the review of SOR’s, FDS, and project specifications for metering system equipment and instrumentation requiring offshore user input.
- Familiarize with relevant practices and procedures for the management of supply chains for test equipment and measurement devices
- Familiarize with onshore reporting requirements for mismeasurement and daily allocation
- Delivery of the workshop in 28-day / 7-day planning & maintenance activities within the discipline and as required by the lead technicians and maintenance supervisors.
- Work under the guidance of the lead technicians to ensure all PMs are completed in a timely manner when plant equipment is offline, allowing one outage for activities during the period.
- Input high-quality updates into the Maintenance Management System; ensure timely sign-off of completed workshops to deliver on planned KPI’s.
- Ensure all documentation, daily logs, and trip handovers are of a high standard and accurate.
- With the PMC order and monitor material delivery for the department.
- In conjunction with other maintenance personnel, review any proposed modifications / work packs prior to implementation and provide feedback as appropriate.
- Actively support and liaise with all residential and non-residential contractors and vendors, acting as the central point of contact, ensuring work carried out by 3rd party personnel conforms to statutory regulations and company standards.
- Completion of the competency management system for the role in a timely manner.
- Understand and comply with the installation's safety case, statutory requirements, and safe systems of work.
- Assist contractors and vendors to comply with Petrofac and Kittiwake’s safe systems of work and current legislation.
- Perform in an emergency role as defined by the Company Emergency Response Procedure Manual and Station Bill.

- Ability to work in a team, resolving day-to-day operational issues as they occur.
- Ability to manage multiple work scopes, prioritizing in liaison with Lead Tech as required for the best outcome for the asset.
- Ability to recognize SIMOPS issues and resolve clashes should they manifest at site.
- Ability to carry out complex fault-finding on-site equipment, liaising with vendors both remotely and locally to resolve issues.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Recognized Instrumentation, Metering Apprenticeship or Training Scheme
- Demonstrable experience in maintenance support activities, preferably with multi-skilling experience.
- OND, ONC, City and Guilds, and NVQ Level 3: Instrumentation and Metering.
- ISSOW (Prescient or similar system) training to level 2.
- SBT assembly and re-instatement to stage 3/4
- Compex certification.
- Understanding and awareness of the oil and gas business and the impact of measurement and allocation activity on the businesses of our customers
- Systems literate: experience of computerized management systems, e.g., Maximo, Spreadsheets, etc.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to share information and knowledge with other personnel
