Position: Principal Engineer – Commissioning – HVAC
Primary Duties
1. Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents of the project and establish applicability to the scope of work.
2. Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.
3. Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints / risks.
4. Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.
5. Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.
6. Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during the commissioning.
7. Responsible to discussed and get the approval of Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Operations procedures from clients.
8. Ability to lead subcontractor for the safe execution of Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning activities in line with the schedule.
9. Manages risk as assigned by commissioning manager, project management and/or site management by reviewing risk on a regular basis.
10. Hold regular review of risk assessment/meeting with the client on issues such as HSE.
11. Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.
12. Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
13. Lead commissioning & start-up multi-disciplinary team building project execution.
14. Clear punch list items as necessary after checking at site.
15. Regularly contact discipline engineers and supervisors for solving problems related to project execution work safely.
16. Regularly communication with Sub-contractor execution team.
17. Liaise & Coordinate with commissioning engineers and provide them support and guidelines for technical commissioning related issues.
18. Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by the Supervisor
19. Develop and execute HVAC commissioning plans.
20. Coordinate and oversee HVAC commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, functional testing, and performance verification.
21. Ensure compliance with design specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable regulations for HVDC
22. Conduct site inspections to verify that equipment (e.g., chillers, air handling units, fans, ductwork) is installed according to project specifications.
23. Review HVAC system designs, including schematics, blueprints, and control sequences, to ensure correct installation and operation.
24. Perform functional and performance tests on HVAC equipment, such as airflow tests, temperature regulation, and cooling/heating capacity assessments.
25. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any HVAC system issues, such as leaks, control failures, or mechanical defects, during the commissioning phase.
26. Prepare detailed commissioning reports, including test results, issue logs, and corrective actions taken.
27. Liaise with project managers, system integrators, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth commissioning activities.
28. Work closely with the electrical and mechanical teams to ensure HVAC systems are fully integrated with the substation’s overall operation.
29. Collaborate with teams to ensure system integration and compliance with safety standards.
30. Document test results and any changes made.
31. Ensure safety requirements are followed.
