Job Title: Instrumentation Principal Engineer – Commissioning (System Instrumentation)
- Perform site surveys, develop commissioning plans, and execute control system commissioning activities
- Configure and test PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems (Good knowledge of ABB, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider PLC Systems)
- Oversee installation and integration of control systems with field instrumentation and electrical systems
- Conduct loop checks, functional testing, and system validation to ensure operational readiness
- Ability to perform control loop tuning
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues during commissioning and startup phases
- Maintain and update commissioning documentation, including test reports, punch lists, and redline drawings
- Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance personnel
- Participate and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
- Proficient in Industrial Automation Systems such as Yokogawa, and Honeywell
- Good knowledge of Machine Control & Monitoring System
- Good knowledge of Anti-Surge Control System
- Strong understanding of instrumentation, control loops, and process control strategies.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and safety instrumented systems.
- Compliance to all HSE requirements, obtaining necessary work Permits.
- Ownership and record keeping of all bypasses, overrides, inhibits, and forces.
- Manages and coordinate vendor mobilization and activities on site.
- Ensure that the System is fully commissioned and ready for handover.
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents of the project and establish applicability to the scope of work.
- Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.
- Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints / risks.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.
- Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during the commissioning.
- Responsible for discussing and getting the approval of Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Operations procedures from clients.
- Ability to lead subcontractors for the safe execution of Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning activities in line with the schedule.
- Manages risk as assigned by commissioning manager, project management and/or site management by reviewing risk on a regular basis.
- Hold regular review of risk assessment/meeting with the client on issues such as HSE.
- Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.
- Be continually present in the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
- Lead commissioning & start-up multi-disciplinary team building project execution.
- Clear punch list items as necessary after checking at site.
- Regularly contact discipline engineers and supervisors to solve problems related to project execution work safely.
- Regularly communication with Sub-contractor execution team.
- Liaise & Coordinate with commissioning engineers and provide them with support and guidelines for technical commissioning related issues.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by the Supervisor.
- Able to guide technical issues to several engineers and supervisors under his responsibility.
- Direct the daily activities related to instrument SAT/ Loop testing and functional testing.
- Provide technical support and problem resolving on different control and safety systems: DCS/ ESD, HIPPS, AMS, OPC communication
- Interact with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures. Coordinate internal and client audit requests.
- Able to analyze technical issues and resolve to initiate an appropriate corrective action and report the same to the direct line management.
- Responsible to interface with client as required, attend internal project meetings, ensure the progress of instrument commissioning discipline in accordance with schedule.
