JOB TITLE: Principal Engineer - Commissioning - HVAC

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute HVAC commissioning plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee HVAC commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, functional testing, and performance verification.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable regulations for HVDC offshore platforms in the Netherlands and Germany.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify that equipment (e.g., chillers, air handling units, fans, ductwork) is installed according to project specifications.
  • Review HVAC system designs, including schematics, blueprints, and control sequences, to ensure correct installation and operation.
  • Perform functional and performance tests on HVAC equipment, such as airflow tests, temperature regulation, and cooling/heating capacity assessments.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve HVAC system issues, such as leaks, control failures, or mechanical defects, during the commissioning phase.
  • Prepare detailed commissioning reports, including test results, issue logs, and corrective actions taken.
  • Liaise with project managers, system integrators, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure HVAC systems are fully integrated with the substation’s overall operation.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure system integration and compliance with safety standards.
  • Document test results and any changes made.
  • Ensure offshore safety requirements are followed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of HVAC commissioning experience, preferably offshore.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, testing tools, and industry standards.
  • Certifications such as BOSIET and HVAC commissioning (e.g., ASHRAE).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Offshore physical fitness and safety certification.
