PRINCIPAL INSPECTOR – QUALITY (WELDING & STRUCTURAL)
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and reporting fabrication, installation, erection and testing processes of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and metallic items.
Review of WPS, PQR and weld maps.
Witness Welder Qualifications.
Ensure that material/welding consumables are stored and handled correctly, when required material traceability is maintained and correct material used.
Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented.
Ensure welding machines/baking ovens/quivers are in serviceable condition and where required is within the valid calibration period.
Timely inspection during fabrication and construction of Structures.
Check for the qualification of the welding personnel and the kind of materials being used for the process.
Perform visual, dimensional and NDE checks.
Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
Perform in process (before/during/after) and final visual inspections.
Prepare/Review Inspection reports(Fit-up, Final Visual).
Monitor performance of contractors, ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks, have valid certification, where required, for the welding techniques in use.
Review test reports including PWHT chart/records for process output compliance with requirements.
Prepare/ review daily welding & NDE reports.
Report daily RFI and ITR closure status to SQM on a weekly basis.
Monitor completion of system/sub system in his area based on previously forecasted ITR’s.
Report back to discipline leader, if any refining required in ITR forecast based on actual site condition.
Immediately report any cost effecting inspection results to discipline leader and also highlight to engineering.
Perform Daily Surveillance at site and report findings to SQM. Participate in Quality Walkthroughs.
Perform pre-acceptance survey of works and documentation prior to testing.
Carry out any other duties as and when required by the discipline supervisor.
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
CSWP 3.1/ 3.2 or AWS SCWI certified Welding Inspector;
NACE Level II Coating Inspector.
ISO 9712 NDE Level II Certification in RT, UT, MT, PT preferred.
Minimum 15 - 20 years’ experience as QC Inspector in Welding, Structural, Coating.
Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry.
Should have 5 - 7 years of experience in Oil & gas platform or wind energy platform fabrication inspection activities.
Multi discipline inspector is Preferred (Welding inspection/ NDT inspection/ Coating inspection).
