JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL RESERVOIR SIMULATION ENGINEER

 

This post is based onshore in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on a 28/28 rotation – fixed term 8 months.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for Reservoir Simulation Models to reproduce production and injection history of reservoirs and create a reliable production forecast, define best locations for future infill wells to maximize recovery and profitability. To carry out assigned work with particular emphasis on HSEQ performance and cost-effective delivery.

  • Responsible for performing all duties with due regard to the health, safety of self, others and of the environment in which they are undertaken.

  • Located in country at Malabo II office, the reservoir simulation engineer will work with local well reservoir engineer to provide a simulation modelling interface between GEPZafiro and Petrofac Subsurface team in Aberdeen.

  • Build, calibrate, and update dynamic reservoir simulation models to represent fluid flow in the reservoirs of Block B.

  • Conduct simulations to forecast reservoir behaviour, including production rates, water injection requirements and pressure changes.

  • Design and evaluate recovery strategies, such as enhanced oil recovery techniques, to maximize oil and gas production and efficiency.

  • Perform quality assurance and quality control on input data and simulation results and analyse trends to identify anomalies.

  • Work closely with geologists, geophysicists, and other engineers to make informed technical decisions.

  • Evaluate and define the locations for future infill wells and the field exploitation plan optimization.

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to GEPZafiro and Petrofac Subsurface team.

  • Liaise with Out of Country Engineers, and Subsurface teams and service companies to ensure that the simulation model is fully quality checked, and any analysis performed prior to issue.

  • Ensure a fluid data and model exchange with Petrofac Subsurface team, Aberdeen.

  • Work with and provide mentor support to National Oil Company personnel as part of Technical Services Contract development requirements.

  • Provide the main point of contact between in country reservoir team and Aberdeen based Subsurface team on all matters relating to simulation models, history match and forecasting, Infill well definition and plan optimization.

  • Responsible for simulation model, infill wells and the field exploitation plan optimization.

  • Dynamic model fully history matched and future infill wells location along with the field exploitation plan optimization.

  • Final technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to GEPZafiro and Petrofac Subsurface team.

  • Liaise with all other required disciplines, such as subsea and drilling as project requires.

  • Participate in client project meetings and regular reporting requirements. Providing operational support as required.

  • Ensure optimal delivery of budgetary commitments within the Block B assets.

  • Identify and act upon any areas of efficiency in a timely manner with a view of delivering cost savings without risk to safety or production.

  • Ability to lead and work in a team, resolving day-to-day simulation model issues as they occur during the process.

  • Ability to manage system issues and liaise with external support teams to bring resolutions.

  • Ability to manage multiple work scopes, prioritising and allocating resources as required for the best outcome for the Block B assets.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 

  • Degree qualified or with significant experience working in the oil and gas industry.

  • Must be able to demonstrate continuing personal and professional development. Professional membership as applicable supported.

  • Strong drive to learn and develop own abilities and able to work independently but seek guidance when needed.

  • Strong personal values and willing to take clear personal accountability for actions.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and presentation skills. This requires the ability to articulate in a clear, concise and constructive manner at the appropriate level for the intended audience.

  • Produces work of accurate and presentable quality in the appropriate formats.

  • Good organisational skills, SMART working methods and can demonstrate personal effectiveness in previous roles.

  • Comfortable working with a variety of teams and parts of the organisation.

  • Setting priorities and developing integrated project scopes from multiple inputs from the conception

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of well barriers and barrier management.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Simulation modelling.

  • Ability to frame and solve subsurface engineering problems with appropriate, innovative solutions.

  • Excellent knowledge of history match process, infill well locations and field exploitation plan optimization.

  • Contributes to the delivery of engineering workscopes and small projects.

  • Asset interface to Petrofac Subsurface team and 3rd party contractors.

  • Ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams to explain complex technical issues in a clear manner.

  • Able to produce high quality written work and formal presentations which match identified requirements.

  • Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of people.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Builds strong constructive working relationships with a wide range of people both within the local organization and externally.

  • Effectively and openly shares information with the wider organization in support of the overall business goals.
