JOB TITLE: Insurance Adviser

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Support the development of Petrofac’s group wide, business unit and project specific insurance programmes.
  • Support negotiation of premium terms and policy wordings in conjunction with the global insurance broker.
  • Manage the Group’s policies and premiums utilising the global broking network to ensure compliance with local legislative requirements and consistency of cover across the Group.
  • Source relevant insurance information required from business and corporate units for policy renewals and other insurance purposes.
  • Coordinate a structured schedule of insurance risk engineering and valuation surveys and implementation of any recommendations arising from the surveys.
  • Support management and coordinate activities on all material claims across policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to project and legal teams across the group in relation to insurance clauses contained within tenders, project bids, joint ventures and other formal legal agreements.
  • Provide advice and input in respect of all insurance matters relating to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Prepare presentations to underwriters during the annual renewal process and in accordance with the renewal strategy for specific policies.
  • Prepare the Insurance department time allocation as part of the annual central corporate services recharge, and the Insurance department budget.
  • Liaise with Group Treasury in respect of premium and other insurance payments, claim reimbursements and other insurance cash flows.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and reports for Petrofac’s management bodies to provide regular updates on and obtain approvals for the insurance programme.
  • Coordinate claims scenario workshops across various business units.

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

 

  •  Able to influence decisions affecting Insurance solutions, policies and processes.
  •  Able to challenge the insurance industry to provide innovative solutions which meet idiosyncratic business needs, rather than those that generally apply to companies in our sector.
  •  Able to challenge existing working practices by engaging with businesses.
  •  Able to interpret data to provide value adding line management information.
  •  Able to communicate analytical and improvement strategy to the line management and business units.
  • Able to succinctly explain insurance related matters
  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  •  Working towards relevant Chartered Insurance and/or Business Continuity Management qualification
  •  Experience and knowledge of insurance and risk management with emphasis on Oil & Gas and Engineering and Construction.
  • Good understanding of risk management and insurance markets, systems, processes, products and policies.
  •  Numerate and computer literate (strong Microsoft Office skills).
  •  Robust analytical skills and high level of accuracy in execution.
  •  Strong exposure and success in deliver of projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  •  Good inter-personal skills and the cultural sensitivity to deal with geographically diverse groups.
  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills required to work with business unit and finance teams, insurers, brokers, and other external providers.
  •  Able to work well individually as well as part of a team.
  •  Strong sense of professionalism, customer service and delivery against expectations.
  •  3 to 5 years relevant insurance experience within an international company.
  •  Motivated self-starter with recognised knowledge and experience working on international insurance programme.
  •  Strong exposure to a broad range of insurance products, policies, and markets.
  •  Good exposure to management and principles of insurance cover across multiple policy lines.
  •  Strong technical expertise and exposure to relevant insurance areas including insurance policies renewals, contract review, broker tenders, insurance coverage, risk engineering and valuation surveys, and claims handling within an international company.
  •  Good exposure to management of policies and premium allocation to Group entities depending on local regulatory requirements.
  •  Ability to perform under pressure, especially during critical periods of the year and in catastrophic situations.
