JOB TITLE: SENIOR DRILLING ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·                Direct and supervise all aspects of the offshore drilling/workover routine and non-routine operations. Includes directing the work of assigned personnel, ensuring the work of contractors is in accordance with related contracts, following up on material, equipment and personnel movement to and from rigs, carrying  out  non-routine  drilling  operations,  and  checking,  verifying  and  technically  endorsing contractor’s invoices.

·                Review and optimize Drilling/Workover programme to meet job objectives

·                Review Basis of Well Design (BOD) for each drilling/workover activity

 

Drilling/Workover Program

·                Check programmes such as drilling, testing and directional plots in conjunction with the Subsurface team (Geology, RE and PE), ensuring that future wells are correctly programmed from operational point of view.

·                Visit rig site for inspections or non-routine operations as deemed necessary. Include evaluating new equipment or materials for testing new operating procedures, handling major operational problems such as fishing in open hole, stuck string, kick, side tracking, etc.  Evaluate the nonroutine operations, prepares necessary programme procedure and supervises the execution.

 

Drilling/Workover Operations

·                Direct the activities of Offshore Drilling Supervisor on the rig.

·                Discuss operational problems with the Offshore Drilling Supervisor and direct the execution of immediate corrective action if required.

·                Oversee drilling/workover operations and prepare loading requests of equipment/materials related to rig operations.

·                Coordinate with service companies for mobilization of the equipment and personnel as a required basis. 

·                Arrange all necessary rig moving and diving assistance in conjunction with Marine Supervisor and Production Unit.

 

Well Plans and Programs

·                Ensure proper maintenance of records of all Company required drilling/workover equipment and tools.  Includes advising the Logistics function of lost equipment and preparing requisitions for replacement and advising contractors to replace lost equipment.

·                Act as relief Offshore Drilling Supervisor in emergency situations when Offshore Drilling Supervisor is removed from the rig.

·                Ensure the preparation and coordinate all necessary reports for the drilling/workover operations.   Prepare requests  for authorization forms pertaining to  drilling/workover operations.

 

Budgets and Contracts

·                Review all requirements for services and equipment required for tender, and prepare the necessary tender documents for all drilling/workover operations.

·                Review and evaluate the tender document submitted by contractors/sub-contractors.

·                Prepare and manage drilling/workover budget

 

Monitoring of Rig Operations and Reports 

·                Establish monitor and control  progress of rig operations In accordance with Approved budgeted costs, quality, timelines, standard of the Contractors in order to ensure that the project objectives are met in line with approved parameters 

·                Review the daily drilling/workover report to ensure that the drilling/workover programme is adhered to by the contractors and prepare related reports for concerned parties. 

·                Ensure reports are prepared to document the lessons learned.

 

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

·                Recommend improvements to functional procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of geological activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Continuous Improvement

·                Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the offshore production operations, systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement. 

 

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment

·                Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operations engineering section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

·                Ensure effective accident investigation and follow-up in accord with statutory requirements and to ascertain the non – occurrences of the same incidents.

 

Reports

·                Ensure that all functional reports of administration activities are prepared timely and accurately and meet client / function requirements, policies and standards.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education / Qualifications

·                Required:  Engineering bachelor’s degree e.g. Mechanical, Petroleum, Mining or equivalent with a good understanding of Drilling technology and upstream processes.

·                Preferred: Master’s Degree

Required: 8-10 years’ experience of Drilling experience across multiple drilling locations
