JOB TITLE: SENIOR ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
This post is based in Ghana on a 24-month fixed term contract.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Electrical Technician will support the Electrical Supervisor for the installation in the delivery of electrical work including isolations and switching
Execute duties as specified in the station/bill/emergency response procedures or as directed by the OIM.
Comply with Company procedures and ensure a full and comprehensive handover detailing all relevant information in accordance with these procedures.
Conducts isolation procedures of all electrical equipment.
Applies and commit to Competence Assurance System and undertake continuous professional development required for the role.
Demonstrate sufficient understanding of process safety and major accident hazard management when executing work,
Provides a supporting working environment based on respect for health, safety, environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
Provide input to major accident hazard management, in particular the prevention, detection, control, mitigation and responses.
Supports/Assists in ensuring Ensures the availability and reliability of installation power distribution system.
Builds effective working relationships with other departments and shifts to ensure all electrical works are executed per plan.
Ensures necessary preparation for relevant scheduled activities.
Completes all verification assurance and maintenance routines and maintain records for same.
Be competent in the (asset) electrical safety procedures
Assists in undertaking site Supervision as well as providing support to the electrical technicians and vendors on the asset ensuring that maintenance work is executed in a safe, efficient and timely manner
Carries out periodic maintenance audits on all designated areas and makes recommendations on same to prevent damages.
Notify the Electrical Supervisor on all defects in practices, equipment and tools
Maintains accurate and appropriate maintenance records and ensure that the data is entered into the appropriate software
Actively participate and support all Client and PFM Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements
Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSOW including the following:
Comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
Stop and re-asses any job where change is identified.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Professional membership in Engineering from countries trained in an added advantage
Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative
Good Interpersonal skills
Prior knowledge and experience of HV/LV competence, HV Power System, Power Management, and explosion protected equipment.
Knowledge of electrical maintenance practices, associated technical standards, processes and relevant legislation.
Experience in the control and use of “Safe Systems of Work” (PTW) including their procedures.
Experience of maintenance scheduling, organizing, coordinating and controlling/monitoring work.
Vendor management experience.
REP Authorized Electrical technician, or working towards
Previous supervisor experience preferred
Previous experience with Maximo or similar CMMS including referral/rescheduling process and backlog management
Capable of providing direct technical advice, guidance and supervision
Ability to effectively participate in the planning of daily activities
Can manage people issues linked to behaviors and employee relations
Computer literate including use of Microsoft office suite
