JOB TITLE: SENIOR MARINE INTEGRITY ENGINEER

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Marine Integrity Engineer plays a critical role within the onshore Global Technical Solutions (GTS) hub organisation acting as the key conduit for liaison and compliance with regulatory, classification and certifying bodies in relation to marine matters and systems.
  • The role acts as an ambassador for GTS and subject matter expert in ensuring that the integrity, reliability, availability and maintainability of vessels and associated equipment is optimised, such that the safety of the assets is maintained, compliance and production targets can be achieved.
  • Management of the relevant vendor activities, materials, spares and performance plays a key part of the position in order to drive a maximising value generation culture and elimination of waste.
  • Actively drive a working culture based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
  • Responsible and accountable onshore engineer for the performance of all respective asset marine integrity systems including structural and hull integrity.
  • Investigate marine integrity anomalies and develop work scopes for repairs and upgrades on vessels.
  • Act as functional Subject Matter Expert in Marine Integrity Systems, providing coaching and development opportunities to other Engineers in the GTS team as well as across service lines.
  • Ownership of respective Marine Processes and Procedures.
  • Develop and assist with the development and updates to the maintenance routine (PMA / PM / CMA / CM) tasks in the company CMMS.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with on and offshore teams, technical authorities, verification and discipline engineers.
  • Provide expert advice on, input into and guidance on compliance with relevant Marine Performance Standards
  • Accountable for input to and ownership of Marine budget as directed by client.
  • Deliver complex marine integrity scopes through management of 3rd parties and/or discipline engineers to manage and track progress of structural inspections and repairs, ensuring that work is completed on track and on budget.
  • Through proactive liaison with the relevant and appropriate bodies, drive asset compliance with regulatory and certification requirements, acting as “champion” across the portfolio.
  • Support the development and implementation of class inspections plans and other marine assurance documentation.
  • Lead structural surveys and in-water inspections (IWS), including the coordination with external surveyors and vendors.
  • Lead and/or support as required, marine related operational risk assessments (ORA’s), ensuring appropriate mitigations for associated MAH’s.
  • Ensure appropriate liaison via the Verification Engineer with the independent verification body (bodies) on all matters related to the marine discipline and ensure adherence to Class and Flag requirements.
  • Actively promote and lead Incident & Root Cause Analysis investigations as required, ensuring associated actions are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Ownership and accountability for compliance with Asset Integrated Activity Planning process of identified activity sets.
  • Offshore visits as required to drive active monitoring, auditing and safe delivery of Marine scopes.
  • As per client requirements.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgement to complex and non-routine problems.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent standard in Marine related discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • Working knowledge of marine systems within Oil & Gas industry, specifically in relation to semi-submersible platforms and FPSO’s.
  • Working knowledge of offshore legislation and vessel certification.
  • Strong safety ethic.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS (Maximo) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
  • Good at networking and building working relationships.
  • Ability interpret and follow processes and procedures.
  • Good organisation skills to support work in a fast-paced role.
