JOB TITLE: Senior Project Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To manage and deliver the E&C element of the Contract.
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of brownfield oil and gas projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery in line with contractual obligations. This role requires both a proven track record in managing multi-asset complex brownfield modifications under customer OPEX controls as well as managing capital projects under customer CAPEX controls. This experience needs to encompass the full lifecycle of EPC project delivery.
- The role provides leadership of the full E&C projects team with a mindset for lean delivery and driving growth. The role will require an individual with a proactive and pragmatic approach, who will lead by example and who has the ability to collaborate and work alongside a diverse internal and external stakeholder group.
- To mirror the client’s operating rhythm, a significant proportion of time must be spent client facing and being in-person in the client office. An E&I background is deemed highly preferential to match client focus areas.
- A demonstrable track record of implementing continual improvement programmes that influence not only their own Contract but that of others’ also and therefore demonstrate the value add of a portfolio delivery approach.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, as well as demonstrable delivery expertise are required to be able to manage and respond to issues, constraints, conflicting perspectives, and ambiguity.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of brownfield E&C contractual obligations, ensuring alignment with technical scope, safety requirements, and commercial terms.
- Act as the primary interface with the client, ensuring clear communication, stakeholder alignment, and delivery against KPIs.
- Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, Safety Case requirements, and company HSE policies throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans, risk registers, and mitigation strategies whilst ensuring ‘fit for purpose’ delivery
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, cost and schedule expectations.
- Drive a culture of safety leadership and continuous improvement across all project teams.
- Manage change control, contract variations, and commercial impacts in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership and clients, including progress updates, risk assessments, cost and financial performance.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and operational efficiency across contract delivery.
- Lead post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to drive continuous improvement in project execution and safety performance.
- Champion a culture of innovation, learning, and proactive problem-solving within the delivery team.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure best practices are adopted and compliance is maintained.
- Support the development of proposals, bids, and contract extensions
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to identify opportunities for contract growth, scope expansion, and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with commercial and business development teams to shape strategic initiatives and service offerings.
- Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and stakeholder forums to promote capabilities and secure future work.
- Ensure debt and unbilled remain at acceptable levels and maximise margin recovery on contracts
- Develop and manage funding strategies and ensure budgets are in place to execute projects
- Deliver requirements to support the Company RRC process for brownfield projects and bids
- Manage and control budgets in line with contractual requirements during the execution of work
- Serve as the escalation point for complex delivery challenges, applying structured problem-solving techniques to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Anticipate potential project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies to avoid disruption to delivery or safety performance.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address technical, commercial, and operational challenges, ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
- Use data-driven insights and root cause analysis to identify recurring issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Make informed, timely decisions under pressure, balancing operational priorities with safety, compliance, and client expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning by encouraging team members to raise concerns, share ideas, and contribute to solutions.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Degree (or appropriate qualification) in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Few years of experience in OPEX and CAPEX project or contract delivery within the oil and gas sector, with a focus on brownfield or late-life assets.
- Excellent understanding of contract terms and conditions (both reimbursable and lump sum structures)
- Knowledge of international specifications and codes
- Knowledge of European regulatory requirements applicable to design and construction
- Thorough knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures
- Through knowledge of experience in brownfield construction projects
- Excellent knowledge of planning and project controls
- Leadership & Team Management – Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in high-risk environments, fostering collaboration, accountability, and performance excellence.
- Safety & Regulatory Expertise – Deep understanding of UK safety legislation.
- Project & Contract Delivery – Strong capability in managing complex brownfield projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring delivery against scope, time, cost, and quality.
- Commercial Acumen – Skilled in interpreting and managing contract terms, variations, and commercial risks to protect margins and ensure client satisfaction.
- Problem Solving & Critical Thinking – Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Continuous Improvement – Committed to driving operational excellence through innovation, lessons learned, and process optimization.
- Business Development Awareness – Ability to identify growth opportunities, support bid development, and contribute to strategic planning.
- Technical Literacy – Familiarity with engineering principles, asset integrity, and brownfield modification processes in oil and gas environments.
- Digital Proficiency – Competent in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), reporting platforms, and digital collaboration tools.
