Job Title: Senior Technician - Mechanical - Commissioning
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning checks, including flushing, pressure testing, and alignment.
· Ensure systems are commissioned in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
· Plan and schedule daily work activities.
· Provide technical guidance and resolve field issues.
· Complete and verify mechanical check sheets and commissioning documentation.
· Participate in system walkdowns and punch list generation.
· Ensure accurate records of testing and commissioning activities.
· Implement modification and enhancement of various equipment
· Maintain a record of all tools and test equipment utilized and ensure their availability
· Be continually present in the field to execute the work.
· Ensure compliance with HSSE policies/practices and Zero incidents, LTIs.
· Ensure availability of proper instrument/equipment before starting the job.
· Conduct Pre-/Commissioning-related testing activities at site.
· Ensures correct tool packages are available along with detailed comprehensive commissioning procedures for individual jobs.
· Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by Supervisor.
· Identify and resolve issues related to rotating & static mechanical equipment.
· Assist in performing various activities related to pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of mechanical systems such as: Compressors, Pumps, Overhead cranes, Tanks & pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, Process packages, Valves.
· Assist in planning and exestuation of Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning activities of Mechanical equipment such as: Solo Runs (with Electrical team), Lube oil / Seal Oil flushing and charging, Final alignment of rotating equipment, mechanical seals adjustment during run-in, pulsation dampers pressurized, belt drives adjusted, aligned and tensioned, vessels internals installed/adjusted, Chemical cleaning of equipment/suction lines, rotating equipment vibration/temperature monitoring.
· Ability to preserve and maintain rotating equipment after equipment commissioning and start-up.
· Implement Preservation and Maintenance log books/check sheets as per project specific procedure.
· Assist in organizing and monitoring on-site valve testing activities.
· Assist in executing activities such as maintenance, repairs, preservation, troubleshooting.
· Execute oil filling, greasing, mechanical seal fitting, and gland filling/adjustment.
· Safety & Compliance:
· Demonstrate strong HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) leadership.
· Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and safe work practices.
· Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.
Coordination:
· Interface with construction, Vendors and other commissioning disciplines team.
· Interpret GA, P&IDs, and datasheets.
· Support system handover and startup activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
· Experience: 8–15 years in mechanical commissioning, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power sectors.
Technical Skills:
· Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, and rotating equipment.
· Familiarity with MS Office tools.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and datasheets.
Soft Skills:
· Strong communication skills.
· Ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
· Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
