JOB TITLE: Tax Accountant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting
- Preparation of AS UK companies tax returns on AlphaTax, ensuring consistent high quality delivery of corporation tax computations
- Preparation of divisional tax reporting on TRCS and accounting and statutory accounts tax disclosures
- Preparation of VAT return (on job training will be provided if no practical VAT experience)
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Overview of compliance in non UK jurisdictions (assurance)
- Adhere to Group Tax strategy and policy
- Ensure SAO compliance including audits and preparation of documentation
- Preparation of PSA calculations and ensure returns compliant and minimising costs to the business
·Approve relocation expenditure in accordance with HMRC guidance and collate for inclusion in P11D/PSA submissions
Advisory
- Support Tax Team with ensuring AS comply with global transfer pricing policies and supply requested information
- Research and Development – work with Senior Tax Accountant to optimise AS’s R&D position, assisting with the collation of information from operations and finance
- Advise the business on the correct treatment of VAT for both sales and purchases
- Ensure VAT Control schedules are completed for all material contracts
- Assist with employment tax queries from the business, liaising with Group Tax based in London to provide advice to AS entities ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all taxes
- Keep the business up to date with developments in tax legislation and government initiatives
Business Support
- Act as central point of review and control for any systems changes impacting tax
- Continuous review of processes to identify opportunities for improvements
- Build relationships with operations, Commercial and HR to ensure they seek tax advice where required
- Support compliance with Facilitation of Tax Evasion legislation, working with the business to operate practical controls
- Ensure compliance with IR35 guidelines, reviewing assessments completed by contractors

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Professional qualification in accounting or tax, ICAS/ACCA/CTA/ATT
Good general UK tax knowledge
Good working knowledge of VAT
Strong organisational capabilities
Good judgement and decision making skills
Strong communication skills and a strong team player
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines through planning, organisation and persistence
Responsible for the design and implementation of new processes to ensure effective and consistent controls are in place, using Oracle as a platform to improve our tax information systems
High level of computer literacy particularly with Excel
At least 1 year post-qualifying experience within the profession or industry (UK and international)
Preference for oil services corporate experience
Financial reporting accounting experience
Experience in preparing UK VAT returns and computations
