JOB TITLE: TELECOMMS TECHNICIAN
Core crew staff position working 1 week on Captain FPSO and 1 week on Captain WPP on a 2/3 rota
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safe and efficient operation and optimisation of all communication and telemetry systems:
Installation telecommunications systems
Line of sight radio, fibre optic and multiplex systems
Public address and alarm systems
Shuttle tanker telemetry and position monitoring
GMDSS equipment
ESD telemetry systems
VHF and UHF radio communications system
LAN system, computer terminals and peripherals
Radar early warning systems
CCTV system
Gyrocompass
Entertainment systems
Client IT requirements
Safe and efficient operation of a wide range of discrete packages and equipment including high frequency PMR work, light mechanical repairs, Ex inspection, documentation reporting and Log Keeping duties. 1st line maintenance, repair, inspection, fault finding on miscellaneous equipment throughout the Platform Topsides
Act as system owner for telecommunications systems, developing regular system reports for MRI
Works with equipment vendors to execute tier 2 and 3 work activates, also advise and liaise with construction team to ensure system compliance is maintained.
Proactive member of the Offshore Operations Team, providing assistance and advice to offshore crew, Offshore Leadership Team in order to meet team deliverables and objectives as defined in the asset Business Plan. Assists Instruments and Electrical Technicians as required
Participates in weekly review in preparation of tasks in the 7 day plan prioritising work tasks aligned with asset priorities and daily briefings
Updating work orders in SAP to provide details of task and equipment history, including actual hours spent and information to justify departure from estimated hours
Identify text changes to maintenance documentation using the planned maintenance change procedure process (PMCR). Accountable for the execution of all assigned task in the 7 day plan ensuring plan attainment above 90%
Regularly makes use of Operation procedures or Smart procedures which shall provide sufficient detail to allow equipment start up, shutdown in a safe manner understanding the potential hazards associated with the process or equipment involved
Carry out a PSSR pre-start up safety review
Reviews content, ensures accuracy, highlights discrepancies in procedures and a good knowledge of Process Safety, able to initiate and follow through MOC and maintenance work order processes where changes are required
Maintains accurate and comprehensive records including, but not limited to: event logs, maintenance records, override logs
Carry out the duties of “Performing Authority” P.A. and / or “AAA” affected area authority as per ISSOW Integrated Safe System of Work.
Monitors and maintain good Housekeeping conditions within Area of Responsibility as detailed in the Company Safety Practices and Procedures Manual.
Health & Safety
Trade Certification
Apprenticeship or recognised qualification and background in telecommunications
Extensive telecommunications and maintenance competency preferably gained in an offshore environment
Ideally holds City & Guilds or equivalent electrical qualification to permit access to electrical systems for isolation etc
COMPEX
Must have the ability to compile technical reports with associated drawings as required, pertaining to telecommunications systems

Computer Literate (MS Excel, Word)
Experience in Material Management, Stock Control, Ordering

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Complete mandatory training required as defined in the relevant Offshore Training Matrix
Adhere to the company Competence Framework
Relevant experience in either onshore or offshore oil and gas industry or candidates with significant experience in similar onshore Hazardous Industries such as continuous processes petrochemical, nuclear or power generation
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrates knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace
Previous experience in use of SAP or similar CMMS preferred
