Title: Senior Engineer - Electrical (Commissioning)
General skills for Power Management System (PMS) Commissioning Engineer
1. Excellent and proven PMS (Power Management Systems such as ESCADA) packages
2. Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning experience (minimum 5 years).
3. Skilled in effectively handling PMS packages (preferably Siemens packages).
4. Excellent communication and interface skills.
5. Good leadership, and teamworking skills.
6. Able to supervise and coordinate technical staff and third parties.
7. Able to work well under pressure and deal with unexpected situations.
8. Willing to work on a shift basis and beyond normal working time.
9. Good IT and analytical skills. Able to write technical reports and compile documents related to PMS activities.
10. Able to produce and implement detailed PMS test procedures and Method Statements.
11. Able to gather and analyze data for troubleshooting activities and performance assessment within the equipment and its interfaces.
12. Able to investigate and fix issues by him/her-self and/or implement solutions provided by Vendor.
13. Able to ensure safe working conditions, familiar with PTW and LOTO systems.
14. Familiar with Turnover Management Systems: ITRs, check sheets, ITP etc.
Technical Key skills for PMS Commissioning Engineer
· Communication Protocols:
1. The selected Engineer shall have deep knowledge (and have been working before) with widely used industrial communication protocols such as but not limited to:
- IEC 61850
- Modbus Serial / Modbus TCP/IP
- Profibus / Profinet
- OPC
2. Able to perform troubleshooting in case of any issue during the interface of PMS system with field devices.
3. Able to change/update configuration files related to communication protocols.
· Networking & Networking Communication Protocols
1. The PMS Engineer has knowledge of Ethernet switches configuration for the managed type of Ethernet switch. He/she should be able to manage/update/modify changes at Site as needed or required by Vendor.
2. Knowledge of Network communication Protocols such as but not limited to:
- RSTP
- MRP
- PRP
3. Know-how on V-LAN, ability to modify/update its configuration with the support of Vendor, if required.
4. Able to understand and identify all requirements of Fiber Optics, Serial cables, Ethernet cables, and other appurtenances. e.g., able to identify the ports type; able to understand installation requirements.
5. Knowledge of how field devices operate, able to identify gaps, discrepancies and any other issue related to interfaces.
6. Knowledge on Switchgear`s protection systems.
Interfaces
Responsible for the assigned Pre-commissioning/Commissioning works; coordinates between Discipline engineers and supervisors, sub-contractors, Client, and Third Parties; acts as focal point for its discipline and scope of work.
